Caring for Rattan furniture

Rattan originates from the forests in South East Asia like Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia and Laos. Today rattan furniture has become extremely popular all over the world as conservatory furniture. Here are some tips on how to take care of your furniture the right way so that you can enjoy it longer.

Cleaning your furniture

Rattan furniture very rarely needs anything more than a dry cloth to clean it up. However if it does have a few stains from the party the night before a damp cloth will work just fine. Now on the rare occasion that your furniture is so dirty because of non use or otherwise you can hose it down. If you choose to do this however you need to ensure that you dry it out completely to keep it from getting mouldy etc.

Prevent it from fading

Cushions that are made for conservatory furniture tend to fade and rattan furniture is no exception. Since most conservatory furniture is used outdoors it makes it even harder to stop the fading process. However just because you cannot stop it that does not mean that there is nothing that you can do to make it last longer. One of the best ways to make sure that your cushions don’t fade easily is to flip them often. This way they will fade evenly and will not look as shabby with passing time.

Your rattan furniture might wear out with use over a period of time and depending on how often you use the furniture. The seats are often the first part of chairs that give way. If this does happen to you, don’t throw away you chair. It is possible to repair it. All you need to do is look up the yellow pages for a cane repair vendor. It is cheaper than buying a whole new chair!
